Create a presentation

See below for a sample outline for a Chronolog-focused presentation, which you can adapt depending on your project, goals, and audience. Here are some sample slides. To adapt the slides for your own presentation, open the link, then click File > Make a copy > Entire presentation.

1. Introduce your site

  • Location, project, and purpose/goal of monitoring
  • Brief statement about “why this project matters to my organization’s goals”
  • Optional photo of the station or landscape

2. Explain what Chronolog is and how it works. Some key points:

  • Visitors take photos that feed into the timelapse
  • Automated emails share results in real time, plus a description of the project
  • A public webpage hosts an interactive timelapse (and connects to a worldwide network of other sites)

3. Illustrate the impact

  • Engagement metrics: number of contributors, timelapse views
  • Changes you've observed or insights you've gleamed from the timelapse so far (if relevant) → will you use this data to make decisions, validate funding, or otherwise support your organization’s mission and goals?

4. Show off your timelapse photos

  • Highlight before-and-after or seasonal progression images
  • Embed a short timelapse (if possible)

5. Share tips & lessons learned

  • The unique benefit that this project brings vs. other community science tools or programs
  • Best practices for visitor engagement
  • Any challenges or creative solutions your site has discovered

6. Call to action for others

  • How to contribute or start a Chronolog at another site
  • Share links to your Chronolog's webpage, to social media, or volunteer opportunities
